Immigrant Students, Urban High Schools: The Challenge Continues

The United States is closing the 20th century the way it began, with a large influx of immigrants who are not only reshaping the country's ethnic composition but once again challenging the nation's schools to find new and innovative ways to help them become educated citizens, productive workers and full-fledged participants in our American society. This Challenge paper explores some of the innovative programs that are meeting that challenge and highlight issues yet to be addressed as we go forward into a new century that seems to demand a new educational framework that will serve today's students and tomorrow's as well.
