A Way Forward. Solving the Challenges of the News Frontier

At a time when one in five reporting and editing positions is gone and major newspapers and networks continue to hemorrhage jobs, the report provides an assessment of the road ahead at what is arguably the most troubled time ever for the American news business. A Way Forward is a report of the Carnegie-Knight Forum held in New York City, February 11-12, 2010. The meeting, held nearly five years following the creation of the Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education, brought together 150 faculty, deans and students from a dozen leading journalism schools to the Paley Center for Media.
