This paper focuses on an emerging challenge that lies at the intersection of science and public policy: namely, that while today, biotechnology is yielding life-enhancing breakthroughs at a thrilling pace, an elite community of scientists warns that these advances may give rise to fiercely destructive forces specifically, biological weapons.
