Organization to Improve How Big Districts Recruit, Maintain Talent

How school districts recruit, develop and manage teachers and key administrators, is key to boosting student achievement. A new organization, funded in part by Carnegie Corporation, focuses on transforming how the country’s largest districts manage their human resources.

Called Strategic Management of Human Capital, the multi-donor funded organization, will develop and advocate for the implementation of human resources management strategies that can improve both instruction and student achievement. Read the press release.

A task force led by prominent educators and political leaders will document successful strategies in recruiting, developing, rewarding and retaining talent through in-depth case studies of districts engaged in human resources reform, as well as national organizations working on providing high-quality teachers and leaders to high-need schools—and the related changes in school district operations to put those actions into place.
