Key Facts: National Foundation for American Policy Study Cited in Wall Street Journal

Wall Street Journal article cited a study recently published by the National Foundation for American Policy that tracks trends in immigration, with support from the Carnegie Corporation.

The report highlights linkages between economic growth in the U.S. and migration patterns north, particularly from Central America.

“This ebb and flow shows that immigrants continue to come to the U.S. mainly to work and support their families, and they don't come when there is less work,” the editorial says.  It also suggests that as the U.S. economy continues to recover, more parents are unlikely to risk the return home and instead send for their children, contributing to the rising number of child migrants.
