First Step Toward Development of Next Generation Science Education Standards to Wrap Up in Spring 2011

The first step toward developing the next generation of K-12 science education standards, a project led by the National Research Council (NRC) and known as the Conceptual Framework, will conclude in spring 2011.

In an open letter, Helen R. Quinn, PhD, Chair, NRC Committee to Develop a Conceptual Framework for New Science Education Standards, indicated that the “authoring committee is hard at work revising the framework based on the extensive and thoughtful feedback received during the July public comment period.”

Carnegie Corporation is funding both the effort to create a framework as well as a second step to develop standards based on this framework.
