Maureen O’hara Blair

Actress Maureen O’Hara achieved fame in the 1940s for her portrayals of rebellious, red-headed heroines in films such as How Green Was My Valley, Miracle on 34th Street, and Rio Grande. She worked frequently with director John Ford and actor John Wayne. After retiring from acting for two decades, she returned in the 1991 comedy Only the Lonely and continued to appear on television. Her autobiography, 'Tis Herself, was published in 2004. She was also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Irish Film and Television Academy. Updated 2009
