Martin Brodeur

Considered one of the greatest hockey goaltenders of all time, Martin Brodeur, born in 1972 in Montreal, Canada, followed his father’s footsteps, Denis Brodeur, who was a goalie for Canada’s Olympic team in 1956. Drafted in the first round by the NHL's New Jersey Devils in 1991, his breakout season came in 1993 when he recorded a 2.40 goals-against average and won the Calder Memorial Trophy. He has since won three Stanley Cup championships and been in the playoffs in almost every one of his twenty-one years in the league. As the league’s all-time leader in regular season wins and the only goalie in NHL history with eight forty-win seasons, he is a ten-time All Star and four-time Vezina Trophy winner. Like his father he also played on the Canadian Olympic team winning two gold medals. Updated 2012
