Dave Matthews

Born in 1967 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dave Matthews, with his eponymous band, stood out from the 1990s pop music scene with an eclectic sound that drew from rock, jazz, folk, and world music. The group's major label debut in 1994, Under The Table And Dreaming, reached No. 11 on the Billboard charts, especially popular among college students. Their second album, Crash, debuted at No. 2 and was followed by a string of successful records. Matthews has also acted, appearing in films such as Where the Red Fern Grows and Because of Winn-Dixie.
