Christopher Hitchens

Journalist Christopher Hitchens led a prolific, sometimes controversial career as a political and cultural commentator. Immigrating to the U.S. in 1981 he wrote for magazines including The Nation, The Atlantic. and Vanity Fair. Though he was an influential, left wing force he sometimes defied expectations, publishing a critical book on President Clinton, No One Left to Lie To, and strongly supporting U.S. wars in the Middle East following 9/11. He was also known for his anti-religious beliefs, espoused in books such as God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything.
