High School Students at Risk: The Challenge of Dropouts and Pushouts

Hispanic, African American and American Indian youngsters have the highest dropout rates in the country, often hovering around the 50 percent mark. The problem is particularly acute in large urban areas—among others, Chicago, Las Vegas and New York.
