Pathways to Postsecondary Success

OUR WORK IN PATHWAYS TO POSTSECONDARY SUCCESS

The Pathways to Postsecondary Success portfolio aims to advance policies and practices that help young people enter, succeed in, and complete their postsecondary education, with a particular focus on postsecondary mathematics — an essential area for college success, and one where far too many American students are underprepared when they enter college. Math is also crucial for STEM careers, which offer opportunities for social mobility and good jobs with family-sustaining wages to many young people. We prioritize strategies that support low-income students, students of color, and first-generation college-going students, with the goal of making the promise of “college for all” a meaningful reality. Higher education is under great pressure to deliver on this promise, making this a moment of significant opportunity for collaboration and change.

The Pathways to Postsecondary Success portfolio therefore seeks to advance three major goals:

  • Addressing the lack of alignment in student learning expectations between K-12 and postsecondary education

  • Improving postsecondary education, including through co-requisite and other innovative models

  • Strengthening postsecondary STEM learning, particularly in mathematics
