Saudi Textbooks Encourage Violence, says NPR segment jointly reported by U.S. and Saudi reporters

“Critics Say Saudi Textbooks Still Encourage Violence”, an NPR segment, reported by Kelly McEvers in collaboration with Saudi reporter Asma Alsharif, examines the controversy over textbooks in Islamic schools in Saudi Arabia and in the U.S. The joint reporting relationship resulted from a Carnegie Corporation supported project at the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) to improve coverage of the Arab world in the U.S. media and vice versa.

The Carnegie Corporation-funded ICFJ project addresses misperceptions in the U.S. and in the Arab world about the other’s culture and beliefs stemming, in large part, from failures in media coverage.
