Online Resource for Journalists, J-Schools Encourages Use of Scholarship in Reporting

Journalist’s Resource, an open-access website aimed at providing journalists, journalism educators and students with scholarly research has been newly re-launched.  The site is an initiative of the Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education.

Working journalists will be able to access the site’s searchable database, where they will find an array of vetted policy studies across dozens of topics and issue areas.

Journalist’s Resource encourages members of the news media, and those training for the profession, to utilize high quality scholarship in their reporting. It provides brief summaries of important studies on a wide range of subjects — from health care and immigration to energy and education — and links to the studies themselves and related material. There are also a variety of skills-based and research reference articles.

Those interested are urged to subscribe to Journalist’s Resource’s weekly email newsletter and join its feeds on Twitter and Facebook.
