Nicole Howe Buggs, Bonnie Rivers Join Carnegie Corporation’s Grants Management Team

Carnegie Corporation of New York today announced the appointment of two experienced grants administration professionals to the foundation’s grants management team. Nicole Howe Buggs becomes Director, Grants Management and Bonnie Rivers becomes Grants Manager.

Nicole Howe Buggs has more than 10 years experience in philanthropy and grants management having served most recently as Director of Grants Management and Administration at the Washington, D.C.-based Public Welfare Foundation where she was responsible for overseeing all aspects of grants management ranging from compliance to reporting, to working closely with finance to oversee grant payments, monitor budgets, and provide monthly financial reports. 

Prior to working at Public Welfare Foundation, Nicole was the Director of Grants Management at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health where she established grant making processes and procedures as well as performed compliance duties.  Nicole is a member of the Grants Managers Network (GMN) and was a Board Member of GMN from 2002-2006.  Nicole has both her Bachelors and Masters of Arts Degrees in International Affairs from the George Washington University.

Bonnie Rivers, formerly a Grants Specialist at the Rockefeller Foundation, served in that position for more than four years, where she was responsible for the day to day administration of several grant portfolios, ranging from agriculture in Africa to impact investing.  Also at the Rockefeller Foundation, prior to her grants management work, Rivers was a Program Assistant to the Associate Director of Creativity and Culture. 

Bonnie is a member of GMN and is Co-chair to the Board of Directors and member of the Executive Committee.  Bonnie has a background in arts and theater and spent twelve years professionally performing in more than forty musicals.  Bonnie has a Bachelor in Fine Arts Degree from Syracuse University and her Masters in Non Profit Management from Milano New School for Management and Urban Policy.
