News Industry Leaders Gather to Honor Extraordinary Women

Susan Robinson King, vice president and director of the Journalism Initiative at Carnegie Corporation of New York, will emcee the Women's eNews’ 10th annual “21 Leaders for the 21st Century Gala,” May 3 in New York City.

Correspondent Dan Rather and Producer Maria Hinojosa join media agenda-setters and previous Women’s eNews 21 Leaders for the 21st Century honorees Malaak Compton-Rock and Loreen Arbus. International activist philanthropist Swanee Hunt will present the Ida B. Wells Award for Bravery in Journalism.

Michelle Bachelet, the first under-secretary-general and executive director of UN Women, launched in January, will receive special Newsmaker of the Decade recognition. A pediatrician and a survivor of torture under Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, Bachelet has carried with her a profound understanding of women’s concerns and the political will to address them.
