Books Build Better Brains: Beginning with Babies

Reach Out and Read brings together leaders in education to learn more about best practices

Reach Out and Read, a key player in promoting early literacy and school readiness, is set to host a three-day National Leadership Conference in Boston in early 2016. The convening aims to help increase collaboration and communication about best practices in delivering this innovative program, in which doctors encourage families to read aloud together to give young children a foundation for educational success.

The award-winning organization was recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics in a 2014 policy statement on the value of shared reading starting in infancy, based on research that takes into account recent advances in cognitive science

The conference, supported by Carnegie Corporation of New York, will bring together leaders from education and the medical community, and will take place in May of 2016.
