“Managing Expectations at the NPT Review Conference,” in the online Journal World Politics review by Carnegie Corporation officer Carl Robichaud, examines the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty Review Conference, which opens today in New York, in the context Obama Administration’s ambitious arms control and disarmament agenda. Robichaud argues that the Obama strategy could “mark a potential turning-point for U.S. nuclear strategy by reducing the role of nuclear weapons and by prioritizing efforts to lock down weapons-usable material, clamping down on nuclear terrorism, and strengthening international rules against proliferation.” He warns, however, against viewing success or failure at the coming Review Conference as a referendum on the Obama approach.
