Keeping Irreplaceables in D.C. Public Schools

A new case study published by TNTP, a Carnegie Corporation grantee, provides a deep look at teacher retention strategies and how they're playing out in District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). The paper, Keeping Irreplaceables in D.C. Public Schools, follows up on the initial Replaceables study and explains how DCPS has moved toward smarter teacher retention, mainly by raising expectations and removing consistently low-performing teachers. The report also shows that DPCS is missing some opportunities to make even more progress.
