Michele Cahill, VP of Programs, Carnegie Corporation of New York, recently spoke at a forum on small public high schools. At the forum, “Transforming the High School Experience: Lessons from the New York Small Schools Initiative,” education leaders discussed a recent report from MDRC that provides rigorous evidence that new small public high schools in New York City are narrowing the educational attainment gap and markedly improving graduation prospects, particularly for disadvantaged students. Other speakers included outgoing Chancellor of NYC Schools Joel Klein and AFT President Randi Weingarten.
