Chaos and Tragedy in Ukraine

“Any effort to put Ukraine back together is going to be a monumental task for many years to come.” So say Eugene Rumer and Andrew S. Weiss, Russia and Eurasia experts with grantee organization, the Carnegie Endowment for International  Peace, who unpack the region’s many problems in their authoritative article in PoliticoMagazine.  “All manner of opportunists, mercenaries, crazies and loose cannons looking for a cause are finding theirs in this tragedy,” the authors say. Solutions are hard to come by, as “the reality turns out to be too complex and difficult to fit into anyone’s neat theory.”
