Description
With a population of more than 60 million people, Latinos are the second largest population group in the United States. Yet, Latino Americans continue to face myriad barriers to full participation in American political and civic life. This includes being consistently undercounted in the decennial census, being unable to vote due to voter suppression efforts, as well as being inadequately informed about the process and benefits of naturalization. Established in 1981, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund is a leading nonpartisan organization facilitating full Latino participation in American civic life, from naturalization to public service. With Corporation support, NALEO Educational Fund will promote policies for advancing Latino civic engagement, empower the Latino community to participate in the democratic process, and convene Latino policymakers to discuss timely issues, such as education, workforce development, and public health

Description
As the Latino population continues to grow in the United States, robust civic engagement is necessary to ensure that their voices are heard and represented by policymakers. Although a record 12.6 million Latinos cast a ballot in the 2016 presidential election, 11 million eligible Latinos have not yet registered to vote. The upcoming 2020 Census presents an additional opportunity to help ensure that the Latino community receives its fair share of political representation and the resources it needs for social and economic well-being. Established in 1981, NALEO Educational Fund is a leading nonpartisan organization facilitating Latino participation in the American political process, from naturalization to voter engagement and public service. With Corporation support, NALEO Educational Fund will empower the Latino community to participate in the political process, promote policies that advance Latino civic engagement, and increase the effectiveness of Latino policymakers on timely issues, such as education, workforce development, and health.

Description
With a population of more than 55 million, Latinos are the second largest ethnic group in the United States. Despite their size, Latinos are routinely ignored by political campaigns (a recent poll found that only 39 percent of Latino voters were contacted during the current campaign cycle) and continue to face barriers to full civic participation. The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund is one of the nation’s leading organizations supporting Latino civic engagement. With Corporation support, NALEO will increase Latino civic engagement with naturalization assistance, nonpartisan voter registration and mobilization, and a communications campaign to ensure an accurate 2020 Census.
