Exposure working in education reform and knowledge of school systems design a must. The Program Analyst will provide both programmatic and project support to the Program Director for New Designs to Advance Student Learning, who manages a portfolio focused on advancing knowledge and innovation in the field through the design of the student learning experience. More specifically, we aim to foster a new vision of the classroom and the school that promotes students’ intellectual and emotional development through rigorous, personalized study and provides purposeful pathways that offer students multiple opportunities to practice and master the higher order skills and knowledge that enable postsecondary success.
The New Designs to Advance Student Learning portfolio pursues four major goals:
- Developing new whole school models that can generate evidence proofs of what is possible when school is fundamentally redesigned, including innovation in the use of time, staffing, technology, and financial resources
- Stimulating the development of tools, technologies, and resources that can catalyze change and transformation within a school
- Supporting broader, system-level changes to build district and organizational capacity to develop, implement, and sustain new models, and to remove the policy constraints that impede innovation
- Building knowledge, particularly regarding pockets of effective practice, that could have greater impact if elevated and shared
Prospective candidate should have demonstrated interest and/or professional experience relevant to the areas described above.
On the program side, the Program Analyst will work closely with the Program Director to support the effective management and strategic development of the New Designs grant portfolio. As a member of the New Designs team, the Program Analyst will be deeply engaged with the Program Director in creative and strategic thinking, and will help inform grant-making direction. The Program Analyst will work with best-in-class organizations, grantees, and professionals. Responsibilities of the Program Analyst include: Reading incoming grant proposals and making preliminary assessments of their quality; Researching potential funding areas and preparing summary reports; Reviewing and editing internal write-ups of proposals; Participating in programmatic meetings; Conducting site visits; Corresponding with grantees and potential grantees; Managing grantee check-ins and follow-up to ensure successful execution of grant commitments.
Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of prior work experience in either an education, youth development, research, or social services. Subject matter proficiency, strong writing, editing and communication skills are required. Ability to create work product that is clear, concise, accurate, and well organized. Motivated self-starter, able to anticipate needs, and take appropriate action. Excellent critical-thinking skills with an ability to utilize them with discretion and tact. Professional. Committed to teamwork and collaboration. Interested in taking initiative and working independently. Able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a skillful and timely fashion. Detail-oriented. Interested in growing professionally. Committed to urban education reform and the broader mission of the Corporation. Technically proficient with strong working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, among other programs.
