Bert Blyleven

Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher, Bert Blyleven, born in 1951 in Zeist, Netherlands, was raised in California and drafted by the Minnesota Twins after high school in 1969. A year later he was drafted to the Major League and named American League Rookie of the Year by Sporting News. Playing for several teams over the course of his career, he was a two-time All Star and two-time World Series champion notorious for his difficult-to-hit curveball. His career total number of strikeouts at 3,701, was the third-highest at the time he retired. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011 and currently serves as a commentator for the Minnesota Twins. Updated 2012
