Mirela Gegprifti is a program assistant with Higher Education and Research in Africa and Peacebuilding in Africa within the Corporation’s International Program. In her position, she manages grantee relations and contributes to and oversees internal projects that help advance the program work. Prior to joining the Corporation, Mirela worked for a leading private equity firm, and also in the nonprofit sector with a grassroots organization working on women’s and immigrant rights. She holds a Master of Arts in International Education from New York University, and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Brooklyn College. She completed her undergraduate studies in Italian Language and Literature, with a minor in French, at University of Philology in Tirana, and was awarded a fellowship by the Italian government at Università di Siena. She has volunteered extensively with Human Rights Watch, local and international grassroots women’s groups, and Lincoln Center.
