Michael Rettig is a communications officer for the Corporation’s international and U.S. democracy programs. He has extensive experience working with experts in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to develop communications strategies, refine messaging, and deliver impact to target audiences.
Prior to joining the Corporation, Rettig led account teams in the corporate and public affairs division at Edelman. There, he developed gripping editorial content for integrated marketing campaigns, built and executed on executive positioning plans, and offered counsel on crisis and around-the-corner issues for major legal, industrial, and fintech clients.
Prior to joining Edelman, he worked in research and strategic communications at the U.S. Department of Defense and at the Brookings Institution, where he was responsible for media relations, expert positioning, and content strategy for a broad portfolio of research that included economics, technology, global education, and climate change. He spearheaded communications for Brookings’s annual Aspen Roundtable, which focused on the economic disruption and opportunity posed by emerging technology.
Rettig received his MA in international relations from New York University, and his BA in political science from Pennsylvania State University.
