Forum on Homeland Security

February 12, 2002


This fourth in a series of Carnegie Forums focused on issues relating to homeland security, including how national security and domestic concerns may collide and what implications these dual agendas may have for U.S. civil liberties.

The Panelists:
Ashton B. Carter, (Keynote Speaker) former under secretary of defense, now professor of science and international relations at John F. Kennedy School of Government, and co-director of the Harvard-Stanford Preventive Defense Project.

Christopher Edley, Jr. (Panelist) professor at Harvard Law School and co-founder of the Civil Rights Project and member of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission.

Gary Hart, (Panelist) co-chair with Warren Rudman of the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century and retired U.S. Senator from Colorado.

Robert F. Turner (Panelist), professor of international law and foreign policy and co-founder of the Center for National Security Law at the University of Virginia.

Brian Lehrer (Moderator), former NBC Radio Networks news anchor and currently host of WNYC Radio's On The Line.
