A $90,000 grant towards a summer internship for ten students from
the five schools that are a part of the Carnegie-Knight Initiative
on the Future of Journalism Education.

A one-time $50,000 commemorative grant towards digitizing and preserving
the Talking Books project established with Corporation support in
the 1930s.
American
Youth Work Center, Washington, D.C.
A $25,000 grant to provide a 2-year subscription of their publication,
Youth Today to libraries at colleges and universities in the United
States that have a school of education.

Africa Foundation, Washington, D.C.
A $35,000 grant to develop a media project that will produce coverage
and provide linkages and visibility for work to reduce severe poverty
in Africa.

Africa, Johannesburg, South Africa
$17,000 consultancy to manage the online learning facility called
the Carnegie Corporation Africa Extranet—a forum for collectively
sharing ideas and experiences and providing ongoing training for
the Corporation’s international development program grantees.

bringing insight and trend information to thousands of foundation

A $35,000 grant towards the production of the documentary The

about the role of Librarians in American life.

Building Awards to African Universities
Eight capacity-building awards in amounts ranging from $5,000 to
$10,000 on a competitive basis, to the following African universities
to enable them to execute targeted communication plans and upgrade

market research of their existing users in order to revise their
business plan to be more focused on building an audience.

A $15,000 matching grant to update the research and visibility of
the project Who’s Talking? An Analysis of Sunday Morning
Talk Shows, an initiative that examines the relationship between
gender and leadership in the national media.

Educational Foundation/FRONTLINE World, Boston, MA
A $75,000 grant to support the FRONTLINE/World's Journalism Fellows
Program (JFP), developed with leading journalism graduate programs
with the purpose of training and mentoring promising young journalists
and creating a serious outlet for international reporting on television.
The Corporation has supported the JFP program since in began in
2003.

Scholars and their work.

A grant in the amount of $20,000 to produce a report on a Corporation
supported conference: Colloquium on Women Voters: The Defining
Vote.

A $60,000 grant toward Phase Two of their project on Arming
the Heavens: Space Weapons or Space Arms Control? which raised
the debate in communities across the country.

A $5,000 grant to support a Nigerian journalist to participate in
their International Fellowship Program.
