Foundation and Nonprofit Information
The Council on Foundations
The Council on Foundations is a nonprofit membership association of grantmaking foundations and corporations. The Council's mission is to promote responsible and effective philanthropy. Members of the Council include more than 1,700 independent, operating, community, public and company-sponsored foundations, corporate giving programs and foundations in other countries. The Council's Home Page describes their breadth of services as well as links to foundations and other allied organizatio ns on the Internet.
The Foundation Center
The Foundation Center is an independent nonprofit organization established by foundations to increase public understanding of the foundation field. The Center offers a wide range of services and resources including: orientations, training and outreach, computer searching, private foundation information, directories, books and periodicals, grantmaker files, bibliographic databases, and libraries. These are all described on the Center's Home Page which also includes links to foundations and other resources on the Internet.
Independent Sector
The Independent Sector is a national leadership forum, working to encourage philanthropy, volunteering, not-for-profit initiative and citizen action that help better serve people and communities. It is a coalition of 800 voluntary organizations, foundations, and corporate giving programs. Links to over 100 of its member organizations are available on the Independent Sector's Home Page. Additionally, the site provides information about the coalition's efforts in the area of nonprofit research, advocacy, and leadership.

This site has links to many foundation and other nonprofit organization sites on the internet.
The
Chronicle of Philanthropy
The Chronicle of Philanthropy is a news source for charity leaders,
fund-raisers, grantmakers, and other people involved in philanthropy.
The Chronicle's Web site offers selected articles from the newspaper,
extensive links to other sites of interest to non-profit professionals,
a summary of the contents of the current issue of The Chronicle,
a list of forthcoming conferences and workshops, announcements of
job opportunities in the non-profit world, and other information.
Idealist.org
Idealist.org is one of the largest communities of nonprofit, advocacy
and volunteering resources on the web, with information provided
by 37,000 organizations in 180 countries, and thousands of users
every day. This wealth of information-searchable by location, keyword
and area of interest-can be used by any person with Internet access
in schools, libraries, work places and homes.
