Pedro
Aspe, is co-Chairman of Evercore Partners, a leading investment
bank boutique in the USA, and CEO of Protego, headquartered in Mexico
City. Since 1996 Protego has advised in more than 200 transactions,
including private equity placements, mergers & acquisitions,
project financing and municipal bonds. In 2006, Protego combined
with Evercore Partners, based in New York. Dr. Aspe has been a professor
of Economics at ITAM and has held a number of positions with the
Mexican government: was founder of INEGI (National Bureau of Statistics),
Secretary of Budget and Secretary of the Treasury of Mexico.
Dr. Aspe is a member of the Advisory Board of Stanford University’s
Institute of International Studies and of the Visiting Committee
of the Department of Economics of the MIT and member of the Board
of CIDE.
Currently he is a director of the McGraw Hill Companies and The
Carnegie Corporation (New York) and of Televisa (Mexico); and sits
on the Advisory Board of Marvin & Palmer (Wilmington) and Endeavor
(Mexico). He is the Chairman of the Advisory Board of MG Capital
(Monterrey). Since 2005 he has been the Chairman of Volaris in Mexico
City.
Aspe holds a B.A. in economics from the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo
de Mexico and a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology.
Aspe joined the Corporation board in December 2004.
