About Carnegie Corporation
Karin Egan Program Officer Education Division
Karin
Egan has served Carnegie Corporation's education initiatives for more
than 20 years, including higher education, healthy development of
children and youth programs, and education, science, technology and
economy emphases. Currently she is focusing on the Corporation's work
in teacher education, formulating program priorities and monitoring
ongoing grants to organizations committed to improving the quality
of teaching in America.
Egan
arrived at Carnegie from the International Exchange Program where
she was a program officer responsible for planning programs of observation
and consultation for foreign leaders and students visiting the U.S.
at the invitation of the Department of State.
Egan
is active in both community and professional educational activities,
having served as a member of the National Advisory Group of the State
Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) Feasibility Study on Teacher
Mobility. She has chaired the Science and Technology Advisory Committee
for the Scarsdale Public Schools and served on the New York City Chancellor's
Advisory Committee on Science Education. She is also a member of Grantmakers
for Education.
Egan
holds a B.A. in history from Tufts University and an M.A. in higher
education administration from Columbia University Teachers College.
