Janet
L. Robinson

Janet
L. Robinson is president and chief executive officer of The New
York Times Company (NYTCO) and has primary responsibility for overseeing
and coordinating the Company's operations and business units and
for working closely with the chairman to chart the future direction
of the Company.
Since
joining NYTCO in 1983, Robinson has held a number of key positions.
Before being named to her current position, she served as chief
operating officer and executive vice president, overseeing the operations
of the Company's Broadcast group and New York Times Digital as well
as the operations of its newspaper properties. She previously held
the position of president and general manager of The New York
Times newspaper. Earlier, Robinson held a variety of senior
advertising positions for the newspaper, The New York Times Company
Women's Magazine Group and the Company's Sports Magazine Group.
In
2004, Robinson was elected to the position of chair of The Advertising
Council, where she has served on the board since 1997. During this
time, she was actively involved in the Ad Council's Executive and
Corporate Development Chair committees, greatly enhancing the support
of newspaper organizations nationwide on behalf of the Ad Council.
Robinson
also secured the services of McKinsey and Company to work with the
Ad Council pro bono to develop a comprehensive three-year strategic
plan for the organization.
Robinson
received a B.A. degree cum laude from Salve Regina College
in Newport, Rhode Island. She received an honorary doctorate of
business administration from Salve Regina University in 1998.
Robinson
joined the Corporation board in December 2004.
